Five Romantic Things to Do in Paris for Valentine’s Day

Romantic Paris: Celebrate Valentine’s Day in the City of Love

There’s a reason Paris is known as the City of Love. Every cobblestone street, glowing café, and serene garden seems made for romance. If you’re planning a special Valentine’s Day in Paris, we’ve got you covered with some of the most romantic spots to visit. We visited Paris for Valentines weekend back in 2020 with another couple and the city was perfect with sparse crowds and the typical Parisian romance in the air.  From peaceful strolls to intimate dinners, this guide will help you create unforgettable moments.

For even more inspiration, check out our Paris Travel Guide with detailed recommendations for exploring the city’s most charming neighborhoods.

1. Romantic Walks You’ll Fall in Love With

Paris is a city best explored on foot, especially with someone special by your side. A walk along the Seine at sunset is magical, with soft lights reflecting on the water. Head to Montmartre, one of the most romantic neighborhoods in Paris.

For a quieter escape, visit Luxembourg Gardens. The tranquil pathways and lush surroundings create a peaceful setting for a hand-in-hand stroll. Don’t miss the central fountain and the charming Medici Fountain for an extra dose of Parisian romance.

We also always enjoy strolling the great food and vibrant neighborhood scene of the Marais where a number of our recommended restaurants are located!

2. Intimate Dining Experiences

No romantic day in Paris is complete without an intimate meal. For something truly cozy, try Le Coupe-Chou, a candlelit restaurant set in a 17th-century building. Its warm ambiance and rustic charm set the stage for a perfect evening.

If fine dining is more your style, head to Restaurant Lasserre. With its exquisite French cuisine and a retractable roof for stargazing, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience. Want something a bit more casual but still romantic? Chez Janou offers Provençal dishes in a lively yet intimate setting -- dont skip the chocolate mousse!

Last, a place we have been to for our own celebrations that is not necessarily the fanciest but has a very cosy, homey atmosphere is Le Louis Philippe. With a gorgeous winter terrace and great service they'll make you feel like family.

3. Sweet Treats and Cozy Cafés

Paris is a dream for dessert lovers. Share a box of Pierre Hermé’s or Ladurée world-famous macarons or treat yourselves to a decadent hot chocolate at Angelina. Its thick, velvety texture is like a warm hug in a cup.

Another classic choice would be a crepe - we have a few recommendations in our guide but a particular favorite is located on Ile Saint-Louis near Notre Dame. What could be more romantic than sharing (or not) a warm, chocolatey crepe with a view of newly-rebuilt Notre Dame

4. Stunning Views of Paris

Romantic views are everywhere in Paris. The Eiffel Tower at night is an iconic sight. Watch it sparkle from Trocadéro, or take the elevator to the top for an unforgettable panoramic view. Another option would be to head to the skybar at the Hyatt Regency Etoile (JAM have stayed here twice and recommend it!) which has a spectacular view of the tower when it begins its evening lightshow.

Climb the steps to Sacre-Coeur Basilica in Montmartre for breathtaking views of the city. If you prefer something less crowded, the Printemps Rooftop Terrace offers a hidden gem with sweeping views of Paris. Best of all? It’s free!

5. A Valentine’s Day Seine Cruise

Want to take your romantic experience up a notch? A dinner cruise on the Seine is the perfect way to celebrate love. Glide past illuminated landmarks while enjoying a gourmet meal. Companies like Bateaux Mouches offer special Valentine’s Day packages with live music and champagne.

This experience combines the beauty of Paris with the magic of the moment, creating memories you’ll never forget.

Conclusion

Paris is the perfect backdrop for a romantic Valentine’s Day. Whether it’s your first visit or you’re returning to rekindle your love for the city, there’s always something magical to discover.
